Event Details

What is it? Colour the Night is a one night event for local arts and cultural groups and organisations to open their doors for a cross-promoted arts night out to bring the public into arts spaces and celebrate Rotorua’s rich variety of culture. For one night we want to will be filling all participating places with art, music, dance, fun, laughter and food. It is a great chance for local arts and cultural groups and organisations to showcase what they are doing over winter. This event is also for locals and visitors to explore central Rotorua for a night through an artistic lens. There will be lots of things to see, new things to try and lots of people to meet. The Rotorua Museum, Rotorua Elim Gallery, the Blue Baths, the Rotorua Night Market and the Children’s Art House have all confirmed that they will be getting involved. These spaces will not only show off what they are doing, but also host groups and individuals for the evening, whether it is artists, musicians, dancers or amazing cuisine. Lots of individuals and groups will be showing their talents for the night AND the art, music and performance on the night will be FREE, so grab your friends, family, hat and scarf and come along to check it out! Where is it? Exciting art, acts and activities will be happening at the following sites: the Rotorua Night Market, City Focus, Rotorua Elim Gallery, the Arts Village, the Blue Baths, Rotorua Museum, the Gardener’s Cottage and Band Rotunda in the Government Gardens, and Te Runanga Tea Rooms! The map and outline of events for the evening is available for download (colourthenightflyermapandprogramme). On the night this map and outline will be available at any of these spaces.
