The One The Only Grayson Hugh & Polly Messer
Grayson Hugh is an internationally renowned artist who sprung from West Hartford, Connecticut. On the hunt for a record deal, he moved to The Big Apple and was 'discovered' in an elevator on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The other occupant of that elevator was record producer Michael Baker. With Michael Baker and Axel Kroell producing, Grayson's major label debut, 'Blind To Reason' (RCA 1988), wowed music critics and live audiences around the world. The album garnered several international radio hits and went Gold, starting in Australia, and continuing through the US and the rest of the world. His music has been described as 'a soul/rock stew with a dash of blues and a pinch of country' (Stone Phillips, The Today Show) and his voice has been compared to soul legends Sam Cooke and Otis Redding.
Polly Messer started her career as a vocalist with the Connecticut swing band Eight To The Bar. She met Grayson in a
recording studio and shortly after joined his band Grayson Hugh
& The Wildtones, as a back up vocalist. She performed with him throughout the mid-eighties until
he moved to New York in 1986. During the nineties, Polly sang with the rockabilly band Eugene Chrysler. She also returned to school where she obtained a bachelor's degree
with a triple major in art at Western Connecticut State University. She rejoined Grayson in 2007 to feature on his new record and the pair were married the following year.
This event is a rare opportunity to hear Grayson Hugh and Polly Messer perform some of Grayson's hits from radio and film as well as previously unreleased songs, in an intimate yet powerful duet setting.
