Basement Cinema Rotorua

The Basement Cinema offers moviegoers an alternative to the Hollywood blockbuster fare, with prominence given to independent movies from around the world. The two screens screen films from around the world including Africa, Europe and closer to home, Samoa.

With comfortable lounge seating for 23 and 13, both cinema rooms offer a welcome and more intimate way to enjoy a movie as opposed to the multiplex experience.  It feels more like a private screening of a film which just adds to the enjoyment.

Centrally located in Rotorua, the Basement Cinema also showcases live recordings of operas from venues such as London's National Gallery, giving music lovers the chance to sample classical theatre captured live on stage.

Local book clubs and special screenings for organisations and groups are also managed by the friendly staff.
