Description

The tour begins with hotel pickup in Auckland aboard a comfortable minibus. You will travel south through Waikato farmland, with opportunities to see varied landscapes, farm animals, and mountain views along the route.

At the Alexander family sheep farm and Shire’s Rest, you can observe thousands of sheep and purchase refreshments like coffee or ice cream while tickets are collected for the Hobbiton movie set.

Next, board the characteristic green Hobbiton buses for a 2.5-hour guided walk across the 12-acre movie set. The guide will share stories about the film production as you explore 44 hobbit holes, gardens, and other key locations, finishing with a drink at the Green Dragon Inn.

After the Hobbiton tour, you return through the sheep farm before continuing to Rotorua. Along the way, you pass through Tirau – known for corrugated iron sculptures – as well as the Fitzgerald Glade and other scenic points.

The tour ends with drop off at central Rotorua accommodations or a main central location.
