Description
The tour begins with pickup in Auckland city, followed by a drive through the Waikato countryside, the world's most extensive farming area. Take photo opportunities of mountains and farmlands along the way.
Arrive at Alexander Family Sheep Farm and Shire's Rest, the entrance to Hobbiton, where thousands of sheep roam. You can buy coffee, snacks, or ice cream while your guide prepares your tickets.
Board the Hobbiton buses for a 2.5-hour guided tour of the 12-acre movie set. Visit 44 hobbit holes, explore gardens, and hear behind-the-scenes stories. The tour concludes with a cold drink at the Green Dragon Inn.
Next, travel south toward Rotorua, passing the town of Tirau, known for its corrugated iron sculptures, and Fitzgerald Glade. Upon arrival, visit Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Park to see Champagne Pool, Devil’s Bath, mud pools, and geothermal craters.
