Description
Depart from Rotorua’s lakefront for a floatplane takeoff, flying around Mokoia Island and over native New Zealand bush toward the hidden lakes district. Admire a variety of vibrant lakes before approaching the volcanic peaks of Mount Tarawera, a dormant volcano rising to 3,680 feet.
Your pilot will navigate directly over an 8 km crater rift line formed by New Zealand’s largest recorded eruption in 1886, which devastated the area including the Pink and White Terraces.
The flight includes aerial views of the lakes district, Waimangu Thermal Valley’s Inferno Crater, Frying Pan Lake, Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley, Pohutu Geyser, and Rotorua city before landing back on Lake Rotorua.
