Description
This full-day tour departs from Auckland at 5:45 AM, traveling south through the Waikato countryside to New Zealand's volcanic region. Your driver-guide will share insights into the area's history, Māori culture, and unique landscapes.
The tour begins at Aratiatia Rapids, where controlled dam releases create powerful water surges through a narrow gorge. Next, enjoy the Huka Falls River Cruise along the Waikato River, passing native bush and geothermal areas to reach the base of Huka Falls, where over 220,000 litres of water flow per second.
After the cruise, visit the Huka Falls Lookout for panoramic views of the turquoise waters. Then travel to Taupō on the shores of New Zealand's largest freshwater lake for a one-hour lunch break (own expense) with a choice of cafés overlooking the lake.
Before returning to Auckland, stop at Huka Honey Hive to sample premium mānuka honey and browse local products. The journey concludes with a comfortable return and hotel drop-off in Auckland.
