Description

Visit Whakarewarewa, The Living Maori Village for a memorable daytime cultural experience. Located in the heart of Rotorua, the village is a 10-minute drive from the city centre.  Start with an entertaining and informative 1-hour guided tour. Learn about Maori history, customs, and crafts from a local village guide. Discover how Maori use natural geothermal energy in daily activities. Enjoy a cooking demonstration! Opt for a delicious piece of corn cooked in a geothermal pool served with butter, salt, and pepper. Follow your guide to two viewing platforms to see Pohutu Geyser and Prince of Wales Geyser in action. The geysers erupt daily with spray that reaches up to 30 meters high. Enjoy a 30-minute cultural performance featuring a mihi (traditional welcome), song, poi dance, and haka (war dance). Afterwards, you are free to explore the village and geothermal trails at your own pace.
