Description
Depart Rotorua after hotel pickup around 9am and travel to either Orakei Korako or Waiotapu geothermal park. Orakei Korako, known as the Hidden Valley, is located in the Taupo Volcanic Zone between Taupo and Rotorua. Waiotapu features the Lady Knox Geyser and is known for its diverse and colorful geothermal attractions.
After a 45-minute drive, take a short boat ride across the lake, then spend about 2 hours exploring up to 23 natural geysers and boiling hot springs set within a constantly changing landscape. Walk through native bush and observe the rich colors and geothermal activity.
Next, visit Huka Falls and the Taupo lakeside area. Lunch is at your own expense, with multiple dining options available. Your driver will guide you around Taupo’s lakefront and other sights and may tailor stops based on your interests. Return to Rotorua for hotel drop-off around 4pm.
