Description

Pick up locations will be from Taupo/ Rotorua/ Whakatane accommodations 8am Drop off will be 4.15pm - 4.30pm - Day Tours wear comfortable clothing/ shoes, bring a camera. Our offerings include immersive experiences that highlight our culture, and traditions and the importance of the environment to us and the region for generations to come. 1.50hr drive from each pick up location out to the Whirinaki Forest, enjoy been transported through a scenic range of unspoiled native trees and environment. 30 minute stop at our local Te Whaiti Marae, learn a part of our indigenous Maori Culture before been driven to our Whirinaki Forest, 20 minute drive. Morning tea break will be provided. First walk will be to the Te Whaiti Nui A Toi Canyon - Local tour guide will lead the way into the Forest, with the exceptional knowledge of the area and stories of our local prominent Chief Toi Kairakau, identifying native trees and plants with health benefits along the way Guided walk will take 1.50 - 2.00 hour walk. Lunch will be provided before your second walk, with entertainment from the locals singing while you experience our traditional kai food our hangi will have options for vegetarians, given to you in our traditional rourou, food basket made from harakeke flax with rongoa drink and other refreshments. Second walk will take you to the Historic H Tree, shaped like the capital letter H, a 1.00 hour walk. photos are allowed. A visit to the Mangamate Waterfall, a significant place of healing for us the locals. Return to locations
