Lake Rotoma

Lake Rotoma is situated off State Highway 30 heading towards Whakatane. It's approximately a 30 minute drive from the centre of Rotorua.
The lake was formed within the Rotoma caldera when the lava flows from a huge crater explosion blocked its outlet over 9,500 years ago.

The lake is known for its clear waters and is a popular spot  for all types of fresh water sport and recreation including boating, trout fishing, waterskiing, kayaking and swimming.
