Kaituna Cascades is the original white water rafting company operating on the Kaituna River. Rafters can enjoy an incredible ride through 14 rapids and the mighty Tutea Falls, the world's highest commercially rafted waterfalls.
Using custom built rafts, Kaituna Cascades operate on the Kaituna River which offers two waterfalls and14 rapids, and the Wairoa River which is the choice for adrenaline charged thrill seekers.

Located in Okere Falls, the rafting base sits alongside the river and near the Okere Falls Scenic Reserve. Visitors can explore nearby walking tracks and viewing platforms before or after their adventure. Free parking is available, including space for buses and campervans.

Participants must be 13+ and weigh under 120kgs. This activity is not suitable for pregnant women or individuals with significant health conditions. All participants must be confident and comfortable floating in deep water.

Kaituna Cascades offers exciting rafting experiences for corporate groups, work functions, and team-building events. After rafting, groups are welcome to make use of the on-site facilities or visit the nearby Okere Store for food and craft beer. The team can accommodate Christmas functions, end-of-year celebrations, and other corporate events.
Kaituna Cascades regularly works with schools throughout New Zealand and Australia and offers memorable rafting experiences for students, sports teams, and clubs. Suitable for ages 13–18, rafting trips fit easily into most camp and outdoor education itineraries, with a total duration of approximately 2.5 hours. Special rates are available for schools and educational groups.
A professional photographer accompanies each rafting trip, capturing key rapids, waterfalls, and memorable moments throughout the adventure. After the tour, guests can view their photos on a large screen at the rafting base. Photos are available for purchase and are delivered digitally via email.
Rafting trips depart daily at 8:30am, 10:30am, 12:30pm, 2:30pm, 4:30pm. Special departure times and exclusive trips may also be available upon request, subject to availability. Guests are asked to check in 15 minutes before their scheduled tour time.
Complimentary shuttle services are available from central Rotorua locations. However, Kaituna Cascades recommends driving directly to the rafting base, where free parking and ample space are available for cars, campervans, and buses.
Digital photo packages are available for $50. Guests receive high-quality JPEG images via an emailed download link. Photos are organised by raft, ensuring each group receives only the images from their own tour.
Guests should bring swimwear and a towel. Kaituna Cascades provides all specialist rafting equipment, including wetsuits, helmets, buoyancy aids, and rafting footwear where required.
