Kuirau Park
Rotorua
Make sure you walk to the end of the park, where a large geothermal lake is located.
Kuirau Park is a public park situated off Lake Road just 10 minutes walk from the Rotorua`s city centre.
The park offers a chance to get up close to impressive steaming geothermal activity with well laid walking tracks.
The park includes a play area for children, an expansive garden area, ornamental lake, and geothermal heated foot pools. The paddling pool is a popular spot for families to take picnics while the younger ones splash around.
The park is one of eight sections that make up the Rotorua Walkway, a joint initiative from the Rotorua Council, Department of Conservation and the Rotorua Energy Charitable Trust. The walkway took ten years to complete and encompasses 26km of connected paths designed to highlight the most scenic points of interest. These include historic sites, geothermal activity and native wildlife.
There are a number of entrances to the park with plenty of free parking spaces available.
