As the premier spot for adventure activities, Rotorua is also a child friendly city. From family Attractions and ducational fun, to nature, wildlife and sport, there's not much they haven't thought of here.
Rotorua for kids can be high or low octane, depending on what the children will let you get away with. A number of the family attractions are situate off State Highway 5 heading north of the city. Why not check out the selection of nature and wildlife parks in the area, where you can get close to kiwi, parrots, and other indigenous creatures. Wildlife attractions include Rainbow Springs and Paradise Valley. There's also a working sheep farm up in Ngongotaha, that lets children pet the animals. Hire some bikes and go cycling around the lake, or go bathing in one of the many natural hot pools. Skyline Rotorua is great for all the family, with a cable car, luge and other rides and activities. Government Gardens has some lovely park areas. Many Rotorua Attractions are centred around the area's geothermal and Maori history, the reason most people come here.
